A paid admission ticket is strictly required for three specific experiences: 1. The Virtual Castle: A 12-minute immersive documentary detailing the architectural history of Castle Hill from prehistory to modernity. 3. Visitors have two principal ways to reach Castle Hill:

The Glass Funicular Railway: Departs from Krek Square (Krekov trg), beside the Central Market. The cabin travels 117.6 meters along a 58-degree incline in roughly 60 seconds. Modern and fully wheelchair-accessible, it offers sweeping views toward northern Ljubljana as it ascends. Return tickets cost €6.00 alone or €4.00 as an add-on to the castle admission ticket. Walking Footpaths: Three scenic pedestrian paths ascend from Old Town. The most popular is Ulica na Grad, beginning near Town Hall (Mestni trg) and winding gently upward past stone vineyard terraces in 12 to 15 minutes. The steepest and fastest path climbs from Reber alley off Stari trg in 8 to 10 minutes via stone stairways. A third peaceful woodland trail, Osojna pot, starts behind Gornji trg.
